    175gr. SMK outta a 12" twist

I'm closing in on my SMK 168 grain load and was going to start working on a longer range load. What does the 175 grain SMK do out of a 12' twist? Should I scratch that 175 and go with a 155 grain and work from there?

I think the twist will be to slow for the 175's.

I agree, but what happens to the bullet? Does it fall on its face and start tumbling at the same distance as the 168 grain?

Go check out some of the long range shooting/sniper forums. Nearly all of the posts I've read have all had reall good success with the 175 outta a 1/12. Many of them infact have found better groupings with the 175 over the 168. I've been looking at the same thing for a future rifle purchase. I haven't had any issues of 175 SMK outta my m1a.

175 Sieras and 178 A-Max work great in the 1-12 twist barrel of my FN-SPR A1. Sub 1/2 MOA all day long.
