    Travis County News

Thanks to the flood of calls and e-mails from NRA members and a warning from Texas’ pro-gun Attorney General Greg Abbott that they would almost certainly face legal action, the Travis County Commissioners voted unanimously on January 15 to back off their proposed ban on gun shows on county property. In a knee-jerk response to a terrible tragedy that occurred thousands of miles away in a state with some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country, the Travis County Commissioners had considered a proposal to ban gun shows on public property and in public facilities, primarily at the Travis County Expo Center east of town.

As a result, the county will honor its contract with Todd Beiter, the owner of Saxet Gun Shows, whose contract with the county runs through January 2014.

This proposed gun show ban was not in response to anything that has happened at Saxet events, but was an emotional reaction to a terrible tragedy.

Dont think for a second that they backed down because they wanted to.,... they were forced to.. the agenda is still there.

Abbott said any city trying to do this will have the full might of the legal authority from the State brought upon them and strongly advises not to test it.
