Neck sizer die bushing... school me

Can someone please tell me the correct way to neck size cases for consist ant neck tension?? Is the bushing a piece that works with your die set? Or do I need a separate die to use it with besides the full length resize and decapping die and seating die..

buy a Redding Type S full length die with bushing .... adjust so you bump the shoulder back .001" , and neck tension is done be feel.

I only use neck bushing dies ..... and can swap out bushings to control bullet tension thus increasing accuracy

i highly suggest a micrometer bullet seating die , makes life so much simpler (bottom pic)

nearly all my rifles have "tight neck chambers" as I have to neck turn brass. After NT , brass is 100% concentric and consistent. My seated bullets and necks only have .002" ~ .003" clearance in the chamber - thus the "tight neck" phrase. Factory ammo and chambers have LOTS of clearance and slop.

Watching... Also, how do you know what bushing to use. Isnt there different size bushings for tighter tension?

yes there is different bushing to different tensions.

I was told on another forum the easy most economical way is to get a Lee collet neck sizer die... Which is what I am probably going to do.

I don't have anyone around me or that I know that can really teach me the neck turning, anealing, using bushings, kind of case prep. It'd be nice to learn it all for when I finally get into benchrest. For right now though for a hunting varminter rifle, I think a collet die will serve the purpose. Thanks for the info fellers!

Cajun, yes I'd love to get those seater dies and bushing dies like that, I will one day, can't afford to buy em just yet at over $100 a peice!
