Firearm transfer laws (memory refresh please)

If I buy an AR 15 lower, that piece is the portion if the gun that is considered the "firearm" and is subject to FFL regulations. Here is my question:

If the lower is purchased off an Internet website, (like TBH or GUNBRoKER) and the seller lives in TX, do I need to use an FFL to complete the transaction? Or can they simply ship it to me as an in-state buyer?

    Depends who the seller is.

    Businesses would ship to FFL.

It is a stripped lower which is neither a rifle or handgun but could be made into either. Since hanguns must go through an FFL I would suggest you send it to one in your area and do the transfer properly.

            valid point.

I was making the assumption that it had originally been registered as a rifle from the previous owner.

Face to face is you best option (for now )

I was in a quandary because of the possible dual use, just as mentioned earlier.

We have always had a section for this, Sippy. .

                Thanks for the replies, fellas.
