I just started about a 6 weeks ago. It's only part time as it's a bit of a drive for me. But I enjoy the work and am learning a ton about building long range rifles.

This build shot this five shot 100 yd group you can cover with a dime.

I'm not a huge fan of the diamond fluting, but it's what the customer wanted.

Sub .5" groups work fine for me lol.

i know they work best riding the lands hard, but this was one of the loads i had originally tried and it did better than the ones on the lands. im gonna play with it some more after the season is over. i dont want to mess with it untill after just incase i push it too hard and break something lol. im taking it to the panhandle with me in december to hunt whitetails

trying to gt a couple new rigs posted up. Both of these i am helping my brother get up and running.

This is his first custom build. model 700 action, lilja 3 groove 1:10 twist 22" sendero contour, threaded for a can(will be running a specwar). trued action. fluted bolt with oversize fluted knob. manners T5A. larue 20 moa base, vortex razor hd scope.
                    chambered in 308.

I still need to go pick it up from the smith, thus the reason for the pic. my smith sent it to me so its the only one i have

this is the other rifle. We wanted to try to build a rifle with quality parts as cheap as possible.... and we did just that!! built this for half of what it would cost to buy all this stuff new for.

model 700 action with ptg fluted bolt with oversize knob, trued. timney 510. badger 20 moa rail. rock creek 1:10 twist fluted 20" barrel chambered in 300 win (part of the reason it was cheap as it is going to kill the velocity, but for our plans for this thing it is fine) has an SAS suppressor mount but it too will be removed to run the specwar. AICS 2.0 folding stock. US Optics sn3 3.8-22 scope with uso 35mm rings. it still needs some work obviously. I need to have the old bedding compound removed and have the new barreled action bedded in it. need to recoat the scope. and possibly some viperskins for the stock.
looking forward to getting it up and running as it should be a shooter.

Dave, this is the barreled action i was telling you came from yalls shop.

Rem 700 Sendero 7 mag. All stock. 3x9x50 Buckmaster BDC on top. Probably going to put a SWFA on it and make it a mid range hunter. But 7 mag is pretty capable.

If your looking at the one Dave posted...my guess is with optics and smith work your pushing 5k real hard.

I'm curious... why do some people build guns like that with 20 inch barrels? It's not like it's going to be a brush gun or something, and it reduces velocity and sometimes accuracy. Seems like it kinda defeats the purpose.

It will not reduce accuracy. It WILL reduce velocity. It was already built and what I got it for, I couldn't even get the action done for. It is a short rifle that is easy to throw around. When the time comes the barrel can easily be changed out. The velocity won't hurt all that bad. If wanted, a guy could still take it out pretty far. It will be fun to play with. I figure I should be able to get some 180-185 grain bullets around 2700-2800 fps still. And it's not so dang long when we put a suppressor on it which is nice. One of my others has a 27" barrel. Add a 9" can to that and it's like shooting a fence picket lol

A shorter barrel equates to a stiffer barrel (depending on contour) and can actually increase accuracy.

                                Nice snag trophy8!
