    New Thermal

Welll my original Apex 50 scope finally gave up the ghost—6 yrs old. Bought a new Thermion XQ50 Pro model, got it mounted and headed to the range. One word describes it—Complicated! I finally got frustrated and came home. Thought about returning it but all the other quality scopes are about as complex—why do I need picture taking and video capabilities? I want a thermal that I can focus, change the power on, and zero—that’s all I need.

Once I found out there aren’t any quality simple options, I kept it and will be headed back to the range for more zero work. And my old eyes have trouble reading what is on the screen as well.

Use the complexity to your advantage. Download the pulsar stream vision app. You can connect the thermal to your phone or tablet and it’ll make reading things easier.

I’ve got the XP 50. I did not want anything complicated and initially thought it was.

I’ll admit, looking into the scope to make the adjustments at first was difficult. Once zeroed, there ain’t much to it.

One button for power, one button for zoom, one button for range, one button to record or take pictures.

If you have a second person with you, on the easy to use app, they can do the recording, ranging or zoom for you while you’re looking through the scope.

trijicon reap-ir ... no nonsense , no recording , no auto nuke ... but it's a pain to sight in .. my model did not have the freeze function. no buttons just a joystick...fantastic!

I bought a dnt hydra ... disabled nuk .. turned most of everything off .. cant indicator , picture in picture etc .. now it's just turn on .. front button to zoom in and out.. middle to change pallete .. back button to record if you decide to ... but not necessary .. and double tap zoom to nuk manually ... easy peasy .. and i bought the 256 model for $800 ...

it's fantastic .. never needs to be re-focussed either .. do it once and it's done ..

i have a few videos on it ..https://youtu.be/ewCAEihp-FY?si=34OJwXtIL0ab-FeZ

        this one has footage. ...https://youtu.be/uvQoAho5nAo?si=5rfLveBBSbMIdz4_

understood... the reap is a serious thermal , all the way to the diaphragm eyepiece keeping you concealed from NV's.... but the DNT's are not bad for the price .. and with all the crap turned off , it's very useable without any fiddling ... the only con so far is the mount .. until they come up with a qd .. they're working on it. i think i paid like $840 delivered for mine and so far it'd been working flawlessly. I have a buddy with a new ATN, and I had to sight it in for him ... it's a hot mess... and I wouldn't own one if you gave it to me. the hydra however... i must say is the best buy i've ever made.. it's plain awesome and anyone of my friends who have looked through it can't even believe it was $800. i suggest you watch my second video , the one with footage .... about half way in the video , it has a side by side view with an AGM 384 taipan ... and it BLOWS it away ! it's not even close.
