I would love to have a .257, but what really has my interest right now is a .458 Win Mag or Lott in a bolt action or a .500 Jeff. One of the PHS in Africa had one and he shot a bull through a 6 inch tree and I have been thinking about it ever since. I also bought a raffle ticket for a .500 NE in a double that I didn't win, but I keep thinking about it.

Who did you get to bore your barrel out? I’ve done all kinds of searching online and haven’t found anyone yet. I’m wanting a 223 bored out to 6x45.

Think about a 358 Winchester if you reload. It doesn't beat you up like the Whelen or 375, but it pushes pretty heavy bullets at respectable speed. Factory ammo is hard to find and pricey. Another suggestion is 224 valkyrie. Ammo is cheap, but stock up a bunch because I expect it is going to phase out. I find myself intrigued by the 338 ARC, you might want to check it out.

we shot these 2 boars last night. Both with 22 creed. 1 with 70gr accubonds and 1 with 70gr vld. 100yrds both didn’t take a step. Accubonds had a pass through vld did not as expected. I’ve had same results from 73gr hammer hunters. Pics don’t do them justice they were both heavy.

I’d like to play around with 6arc but it doesn’t really fill a niche for me.

I want a .35 cal badly, and right now it’s looking like I’ve settled on a .358win for up here in Pennsylvania as my woods gun!

I was part of the Houston Gun Collectors Club for many years ( so was my pops Winman on here before he passed) so by default I was a Winchester Collector. Anything Winchester Guns, Knives, Signs, anything that was original Winchester or any of the Winchester made but sold by other stuff. I have shot all of them. Ammo is not cheap for them never has been and it has only gotten more expensive. At one point I had 1892 trappers from 13"-22" Shortest barrel that Winchester made was 12" only 2 known in existence. I had one of the next barrel size up. Wish I would have never sold that one but the money was to hard to pass up.
