    .357M ammo question.

Just bought a lever gun & a six shooter in .357 Mag / .38 spcl.

I was shooting the 140gr Lever Evolution thru the last lever I had. Still have ammo.

Is it fine for the pistola too or yall recommend different.

Plan to use both weapons on swine.

Pistol has 7.5" barrel & rifle is 20", if that matters.

    Thanks, D.

I seriously doubt the cylinder would be short enough to cause issues

    I’d say fire away,

what did you get? Post pics.

I’m about to add another lever gun to the mix.

        😂😂😂

Im saving my nickels, dimes, and Pennie’s. Trying to get a Ruger made Marlin 1894 Carbine. Unsure about 357 or 44. More than likely 357 since that’s what pistol I carry when running my dogs.

Definitely interested in a range report on that rifle.

id say just about any JHP or JSP would get the job done pretty well. I’ve shot several critters with hard cast RNFP and had good results too.

If it will fit in your chambers, it’s safe to shoot.

Googled the hornady lever ammo & says safe for pistols.

Even called Hornady and they validated it's safe.

But.... any other suggestions on ammo in .38 spcl or .357M that'd be good for the six shooter? Something that'd hinder a pigs life span.

Like to have some .38 spcl that'd be good for both guns too. Especially for plinking.

And I assume I'd have to find .38 spcl ammo safe for the lever tube ?

No reason to look for a safe 38 to shoot in the lever gun.

Something to be mindful of is if you plan on shooting a lot of 38’s, the carbon ring that will form in the chamber. Might make loading 357’s a little difficult.

And by a lot, I mean a couple hundred rounds. One or two full tubes won’t do it.

I've been shooting hollow points mostly and some flat nose soft points in both guns for a long time. Typically buy whatever hollow points I run across in .38, .38+P as well as .357M. Lever/revolver combos are plenty fun!

I have bought a couple of those g force shotguns over the last couple of years due to the price. One semi automatic 12 gauge, it will only shoot high brass and kicks like a ****** off mule. The other is a pump g force and it is very stiff or the action is very stiff. Perfect example in my case of a waste of money by purchasing just because of a good deal. You get what you pay for, I should have know better.

sorry if I hijacked your thread temporarily. I have always thought the weapons that you can interchange the ammo between a long gun and pistol would be an ideal weapon setup.

I've shot the 140gr Lever Evolution ammo in a Ruger SP101 & Blackhawk. That was the ammo I used in a Rossi 357 carbine and I would load the rifle & revolver with the same ammo and carry a couple of speed-strips.

The only downside IMO is the cost of the LeverEvolution ammo.

Never shot an animal with the handgun but several pigs at "bow range" with the carbine.
