Good all Around Shotgun for Ducks and Turkeys?

Looking for recommendations on a good shotgun for ducks and turkeys. What actions do you like (pump or semi-auto), guage, less than $1000? Also, I know there are specific choke tubes for turkeys, but can you kill turkeys with Full, modified or IC?

Personally, I would look for a old used 870 super mag. Won't ever need another shotgun. I've used mine over 20 years for dove, duck, and turkeys. Been dropped in water/mud several times and never had a single issue with it. Might check on Texasguntrader.com
Also I've used just the regular remington full choke on turkeys with no issues.

Glad to hear can use regular full choke.

I’ve had a Benelli M1 Super 90 12 ga since 1994, and it’s still serving me well as an all around shotgun. Last year, I found a deal on a Beretta A300 12 ga “turkey model”, and I like it really well.
I think you’ll have a hard time finding a Benelli for under a grand, but if you keep an eye on TGT, I’m confident you can find an A300 for under a grand. I paid $600 for mine, and it was in great shape.

This. Find a nice clean 70’s model and never look back. I would try to find one w/ changeable chokes. They are hard to find. Or, maybe a couple of different barrels. But if push comes to shove, just get a good 870 and learn how it shoots. Good luck.

Beretta A300 Ultima. 12 ga 3" chamber. 3 chokes. Soft shooter and quality gun. Great bang for your buck. $899. cheaper in some places.

You don't need 3.5" shells for anything.

Up your budget a little, you wont regret it. Also, if the brand starts with a ‘B’, and is 12ga and chambered in at least 3”. Rest is up to what fits you best, is most comfortable for you, and compliments your natural point of aim.

I have both Beretta’s and Benelli’s both end enjoy both equally. Brownings just don’t fit me as well (out of the box), but I do like shooting my A5.

Upgrades are always nice. Especially moving from say an old pump to a new semi-auto. They are just more pleasurable to shoot with those duck and turkey loads.

I mean the 870 is tried and true and will certainly get the job done all day every day, but hell, you only live once. Who doesn't love a new gun?!..

I’d look for a used Benelli m2. Or a Franchi affinity.

I have had my Beretta A300 for 2 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nothing wrong with what you have but always nice to try something different. I have a Benelli M2 that has never missed a beat. Haven't tried a Beretta, everything I hear about them is good and they shoot a little softer.

While I'm gun shopping, and I use either my Remington Express or I have a Mossberg 20 guage youth model also which I was told is a another good option because it is shorter and easier to carry, should I shoot full, modified or improved cylinder and what shells should I shoot?

                              For turkey shooting lead? Full.....

Ducks....modified with steel or other non-tox....you could get away with IC shooting over decoys.
