    Pure Precision stock

Looking for a lighter stock for my Savage than the Hogue that came on it. Anyone heard of Pure Precision stocks? Their stock weighs in at 20 ounces.

I'm no help on the Pure Precision, but Peak 44 makes a 20oz stock.
I have the Blacktooth. It's very well made, nice and light.

The pure stocks look pretty good tho

We’ve built a few rifles with their stocks and I’ve shot and handled several more (All R700 Footprints) I believe AG composites makes their stock blanks for them and then they do the inletting and finishing in house. They are well made and the inletting work and fitment is very good.

Their stocks are sort of a blend between traditional stock designs and the modern, long range optimized stocks. I’m just not super crazy about the stock design, although it will be a huge improvement over any factory stock. For one, the trigger reach is quite a bit longer than I’d like (I’d say I have average sized hands, size lg glove). Second, they have a lot of drop at the heel, which doesn’t lend itself to very good recoil management. I notice a lot of muzzle rise shooting their stocks.

Any other suggestions, I’m just starting to look?

If it wasn’t a Savage, I could give you some better suggestions, but your options are going to be fairly limited and I don’t really keep up with who else offers Savage inlets.

My description of the Pure Precision probably came off overly negative, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad stocks or that you wouldn’t be happy with one. I deal with and shoot a lot of high end customs, so I generally know what I like and don’t like; therefore, I’m way more picky on things than the vast majority of people will be.
