    Lightweight AR10/AR308 style rifle build

I'm a big fan of gas guns and have had a few AR308 style rifles in the past, but they always ended up being way too heavy. I picked up a Ruger SFAR in 308 a while back and, while it was real nice, I just wanted a 6.5 Creedmoor gas gun, so I sold it. The SFAR decked out with the same scope and suppressor weighed 9.8lbs.
I came across a smoking deal on a complete PSA PA65 upper and decided to jump on it, however, the 20" barrel made it pretty heavy. I decided to shop around and go with a 16"-18" barrel and found a Christmas deal on a Wilson Combat 16" stainless fluted that weighs right at 2lbs. I bought a PSA PA10 stripped lower on a Christmas deal and now had the basics for my build.
Put it all together with basic parts, but weighing out most everything, to find that decked out comes in at 10.4lbs(pics). The 20" barrel adds another 1.8lbs in case ya'll were wondering. I could shed some weight by going with a few aftermarket parts(stock, grip, titanium stuff, carbon fiber stuff) however, it balances real nice and feels lighter than it is.
Shot 20 rounds thru it today to sight in/test functionality/adjust the gas block and it is a real soft shooter. I think I'm gonna like it.
I'll keep ya'll updated with load data and if I come across any issues.
    Tim

10lb with optic and suppressor isn’t bad at all. I think mine with a loaded 20 rounder, can, and night vision crap is like 13.8 or something lol.

Yeah, NV gets heavy. I could shed about 10oz if I went with a different stock and grip. Both of these are a little heavy. I could shed over a pound if I went with a carbon fiber tube/stock and hanguard, but I can't justify $500-$600 for a pound of weight savings. Lol

Yep. I've looked at them and they're very tempting. Only thing I don't like about them is the receivers and bcg aren't standard AR308 or AR15, kind of a mix, but starting weight around 7.5lbs is nice.
I will say the short barrel is very handy with a suppressor on it.

So, I changed the stock and went with a different scope to drop almost a pound. I'm at 9.6lbs now fully loaded(scope, suppressor and mag). Bare rifle is 7.6lbs. I could drop prob 1.5-2lbs but I'm too tight to spend $800 more. Just not worth it. Now to build some handloads and see how small of a group I can get, then take her hunting. I'll keep ya'll updated.
