Are there any other/better alternatives to Caldwell Lead sleds or they all pretty equal ? Won't be using a whole lot so not looking to sink a boat load in it and largest caliber is .308 but definitely don't like the cheap plastic ones. Have cabelas shooting bench and bed of pickup to shoot off of at my house. Currently use feed sack on tailgate but not ideal and Sig AR10 flash suppressor can make a mess of one if too close in...

I use my Caldwell Rock BR to shoot, and sometimes use it when working on the rifle.
I have a cheap Caldwell zero-max that I use on the bench for working on the rifle. It isn’t the best, but it works. Holds the rifle fine for cleaning, mounting scopes, ect ect.
Look forward to someone posting a dedicated cleaning/working stand that they use and enjoy, wouldn’t mind something more dedicated and overall better.

Get you a Parrot Vise w/ the tilting padded jaws to work on your guns...you can grab it by the barrel or stock depending on your needs. I have two sets of jaws & added my own thicker cork to grab the stock & thicker leather for biting the barrel.
The vise can also hold guns vertically & is a must have for what I need.
Lots of good rests out there to chose from...I have the Bald Eagle cast iron slingshot & also use their leather rear.

At the range it is hard to beat a front rest with a rear bag. With the AR10, put a decent bipod on it and use a rear bag.

I prefer my Caldwell Rock BR. It does a great job, plenty adjustable. Sandbags will work for a front rest as well. I have a myriad of rear bags. Some from big commercial companies(like Caldwell) some from smaller independent companies and some are old socks filled with pinto beans. End of the day, a good front rest with a rear bag will probably meet your needs.
