Flash Hider will not budge. HELP

Bought a rifle in 300 Blackout that has a flash hider. Went to remove it tonight so I can put my suppressor on, but I can’t get it to move at all. I did double check that it can be removed. ( crush washer )

Need some ideas on how to get this thing off, trying not to damage the rifle or barrel.

Try a little heat to break whatever thread lock they put on it.

Barrel vise & some heat should remove a crush...thread locker can suck.

Like they said, barrel vice and heat. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of heat.

I was working on my buddies AR10 and had to get the muzzle device off. I couldn’t get it, ended up taking it to a gun smith. When he finally got it off, it looked like the previous installer had DUNKED the threads in red loctite. So know that someone might have been mad on assembly day, and decided to make your task a real PITA.

Might see if there is a gunsmith open tomorrow in the Seguin or Gonzales area if I don’t see what I need in my dad’s shop. I know we don’t have a barrel vice but I think we had a pipe vice. I just would have to wrap the barrel real good so I didn’t mess it up.

With adequate heat you may not need a vice, but certainly be prepared if needed.

A serpentine belt and channel locks works but it wouldn’t be my first choice

I've found that two wrenches on opposite sides of the barrel helped quite a bit. I think one wrench tried to distort the shape of the FH into an egg shape, but two wrenches busted it right loose.

You may be dealing with rocksett. In that case the muzzle device will need to be boiled. I boiled one off this weekend.

Here's another trick for that I've used a couple of times. Get a wet paper towel and wrap it around the muzzle device/end of the barrel. Hit is with a hair dryer for 5 to 10 minutes. Let it sit for 30min- and hour or so. Walla. Pops right off. At least that has worked for me twice. Last time was getting a muzzle device off of an MCX that are famous for basically being welded on with Rocksett.

Still haven’t got a chance to mess with it. My dad had me holding pipe up so he could weld them in place for new working pens after I hunted this morning . I just hope I can keep moving around like him when I’m almost 80 yrs old!!!!

As others have said, if it’s Red Loctite, heat will break it loose. If it’s rocksett, you’ll need to soak it in water. Quality barrel vises are worth their weight in gold. If the wrench flats are rounded off on the muzzle device, you may have to throw a pipe wrench on it.

There's a reason he's still moving good, he ain't holding the pipe!

I don't know how much AR work you do but a reaction rod is where it's at. I've got a cheap wheeler one and it's probably the most used AR tool I have.
