If you want those speeds, you will need a longer barrel.

I did see where WTO built a 6mm PRC using N555 powder and 80 grain ELD-VT bullet to get 3,515 fps in a 20" barrel.... pretty impressive to me in a short, maneuverable, rifle setup

        I don’t think you can squeak those speeds out of a 6cm or 22cm with a 20” barrel…
        I’d look at 6prc and 6UM

I guess my question is why do you “need” that speed? Is it to get a certain down range energy, or to obtain some required level of trajectory? Because there are other ways to get the needed energy, and various ways to cope with trajectory.

There isn't a need per se... just a want. I've got plenty of other rifles that fill the voids you mentioned. I've always liked speed and like the idea of maximum point blank range where I can just point and shoot without having to holdover/adjust/dial

No exactly minimal recoil but a 257 WBY with 80gr TTSX will hit 3600-3700 in 20" according to Quickload. 100gr could push 3400.

Pretty neat speedy bullet in the first 5 minutes of this vid-
(300 win mag shooting a .223 via a sabot, going 4569fps- out of what looks like a long barrel)
I remember seeing sabots in a rifle cartridge once, but it's been a while.

                  I’ve got a 22” 6 PRC Proof carbon barrel I’d sell haha

You’re going to need a magnum case to hit those speeds @20” with an 80 grain bullet. My 22-250 AI shoots 90 grain A-Tips at 3325 with a 25” barrel.

With my 243AI I have touched 3800 with a 75gr vmax out of a 26” barrel and 3600 with an 87 gr bullet.

What would barrel life expectacy be on something like this?

I'm leaning really hard toward a 6-7 powerstroke. I like the idea of pushing 80 grainers at 4k fps in a 22" barrel even if barrel like is sub 500 rounds. It will strictly be a hunting rifle anyways

500 rounds would be my guess
