    Scope base help please!

    Gun: Tikka Tx3 Superlite .308
Scope: Leupold VX-6HD 3-18X44 firedot duplex

Looking at putting a MountainTactical base on it and I'm thinking I need the 20 MOA base and not the 0 MOA. Scope has 75 MOA of adjustment so I'm assuming that means I have 37.5 MOA of adjustment up and down? The plan is to have a 100 yd zero and all shots be within 300 yards which is why I went with the duplex reticle. HERE is why I'm thinking I need the 20 MOA base. I have friends that have a place to shoot 800 to 1000 yds currently with the ability to go even farther. If I go play with them, according to the ballistics chart I need 43.3 MOA of adjustment for 1000 yd shot. If any of this doesn't make sense it's because I'm clueless when it comes to all this. Any and all input is appreciated! On a side note, no need to let me know I screwed up getting a leupold. I got a good deal on it and I've been so far down the rabbit hole of what scope to get, at this point I think they are all junk that have inferior glass, won't track, can't hold zero, failed the drop test.................

You are correct in all that you posted, and I would get the 20MOA rail. I can’t really think of a scenario where you WOULDNT benefit from a 20moa rail. Even if you only shoot 50-150yds, you can still zero at 100yds with a 20MOA rail, and now you just have plenty of elevation available.

I think the VX6 was a fine choice, I have a 6-24 VX6 on one of my rifles, love it.

Talking Warne mountain tech rail right? Also what I have on the rifle with the VX6. Shooting you a PM also.

The rail I’m looking at is from MountainTactical. I haven’t figured out what rings I’m going to use yet. I appreciate the feedback and the offer! I will definitely look into to those as well. Thanks again.
