    ?? for the Suppressor GURUS

What would be the best, compact, lightweight suppressor for a .223 bolt gun. It's a model 700 Varmint. It's already been threaded.
    I am in the market.

Just an FYI, I think Silencer Central has a buy one, get a rimfire can free on right now. I think it’s for Banish suppressors. FWIW, I own one suppressor so I don’t know nuffin’ !

They're so many out there that are good and you're gonna get a lot of answers. I'd go to Pew Science and look at all his tests before I make a decision. I bought a Diligent Defense Enticer S in 308 cal so I could shoot it from my 300 PRC down to my 223's, and glad I did. It weighs 13oz and I have no issues shooting any of my calibers without hearing protection.

I would go with a 30cal can like a dead air nomad so you can use it across multiple platforms. But, if you are sure you want a small, lightweight, 223 can, the Ottercreek Palonium K would fit that mold.

I'm totally new to this but wouldn't there be considerable blow by with a .30 caliber while shooting a .22 caliber? Or would it even matter?

Ive got a bunch of different suppressors and just because its more expensive doesn’t mean its better, my Diligent Enticer Ti is better than my Nomad Ti and Trash Panda, it’s probably 200-300 cheaper also

There is blowby, but it isn't really noticeable. I've only shot one small caliber can and I couldn't tell a difference between it and my 308 cal can.

For your first I highly suggest a 30 cal. Then you can move it around to other stuff if you want to. Sound difference will be minimal shooting a .223 dedicated vs a 30. Your more than likely going to end up with 5 or 6 after this first one anyway so can always get a .223 or 5.56 dedicated later.

Also if you have the budget for a .22 lr can I think every one needs at least one in the safe. They are just downright fun.

I believe I’ll go the 30 cal route.
I have a 7mm08 TC ProHunter barrel that will be getting threaded soon.

Are you already running another suppressor? Plan on using it on something other than the .223?

Edit: saw you mention of the 7mm. Suppressors are like asking someone if their favorite make of truck. I am partial to YHM seeing I already have one and really like it.

My experience is with Thunder Beast and Nomad brands. I purchased the 30 caliber models and use them extensively on my 22 caliber guns and wouldn’t shoot a gun without one now.

How much does it cost to get a suppressor? Tax stamps? Avg midrange suppressor?

It does vary, but realistically probably around 8-$1000 with tax stamp for a mid range suppressor.

you can buy a $600 suppressor, or a $1200 suppressor. Plus a $200 tax stamp. Any required muzzle devices if it’s a QD…. It can get expensive quick.

I've been shooting my nomad 30 on an 11.5" 5.56. It sounds great. One benefit to the 30 cal can is less blowback in your face.
