Lever action as a hunting rifle?

    I've used several of them, favorite is the Browning BLR 7mm-08. The same rifle in 308 is probably a little more practical due to ammo selection and cost. Either one will do less than 1", 3 shot groups. The one thing you won't get, with even with the BLR that you can with a bolt gun is a great trigger pull. But, it's a hunting rifle not a target rifle and trigger/accuracy is more than adequate for that.

      The older steel frame BLR's feel better that the new light weight models, but that's personal preference.

        I bought my Dad a BLR in .308 some where around 1972 when he started having issues with his Rem. 742. He killed a lot of deer with it until I got it back in "05. I hunted with it this past week for the nostalgia factor and killed the biggest buck I've ever killed and it's my first deer on our new property.

          Ive killed tons of hogs n derr with lever guns n 30/30 35 rem, 375 win, 45/70, 357, 44mag 45 colt, 32 win, then have of course used 22short long lr n magnum, 250 savage n 300 savage. I love winchesters n marlins though id rather scope marlins. The henrys n rossies are nit bad either i started all my kids on marlin 1894 n 357 mag. They killed deer hogs n turkey n switching to 38 spcls would take rabbits armadillos coons etc

            I love lever guns and have collected them for many years… My favorites are JM Marlins.. Savage 99’s.. and a Winchester model 88…
