    NFA Form 1 Question

I am looking at getting an SBR and have a question regarding the process.

I am not a big AR person, I only have 1 at the moment and I was looking at getting an 11.5" .556 upper and using my current lower.

    My main question is...

Am I able to retain my lower and keep it in its factory configuration with the 16" barrel until the tax stamp is approved then I can legally install the SBR upper?

Or does my dealer have to retain my lower until the tax stamp is approved?

You can keep the lower. But it would be best to not have the short barrel upper in your possession until after approval.

You keep your lower in your possession. Ask the dealer to keep your upper in his possession until the Form 1 is approved. Shouldn't take long though either way... at most a few weeks on average for Form 1.
