    Sharps?

Been thinking of getting a Sharps rifle and really know nothing about them. I’m a dedicated handgun/revolver hunter and adding something like this seems like something I’d enjoy messing with. Any experience on here? Tips, brands, etc?

Are you thinking about a Shiloh Sharps or a foreign made replica? Last I heard the former requires a very big wallet and several years wait. The latter ones may be a bit easier to find but also come with a nice price tag.

I've never owned one either but wanted one. A local school teacher was a National ranked shooter. Shooting black powder loads to 1000 yards! If I remember right, there was something like 48 feet of elevation to get you there

I’m thinking of starting with a replica.

If you get a replica...get a pedersoli. I am on my second. I started with an IAB that was a POS. Both Pedersolis are nice shooters with a good tang sight. Like a scope, it will cost a fair amount also...mine was around $500 many years ago if i recall. Its graduated to probably go past 1000, but Ive never shot past about 5-600 (45-70) with them. The C Sharps and Shilohs are a nicer fit/finish, but of course there is a time wait and price tag to go with that.
