    Lawn mower help...

What do you think is the issue? My lawn mower (honda engine) runs for about 45 minutes and then dies. My temporary fix is to pull the carburetor and clean the bowl where there gas is a little discolored. I only run ethanol free gas with stabil, spark plug and oil have been recently changed. Flushing the gas tank is the only thing I have not done.

I'd be willing to bet either you have trash in the tank, a fuel line that collapses when it gets hot, plugged fuel filter or possibly a clogged muffler. I'd do the easiest first, fuel lines and filter, then tank. If that doesn't fix it, possibly muffle, but I doubt it.

Some water in fuel?? Takes a while for enough to get in carb bowl to kill the engine.

Thanks. I did change the fuel line to the carb recently. I'll try to find the fuel filter and change it.

I have drained the fuel tank about a month ago and using fresh gas. Do you think I could be getting water in carb when I hose down the under carriage?

            Doubtful but possible.

You say you run it and about 45 minutes later it dies and you drain the carb bowl. If you are draining it and the fuel is discolored, that’s where I’d start. Fresh fuel is a must when diagnosing things. Too easy on that one.

After that I’d go to the carb. Head to YouTube and search your model(most Hondas have a very similar carb setup) and pull yours apart. Clean it well to include all jets and emulsion tube if applicable.

Throw it back on with that fresh fuel and see what happens.

After the 45 minutes and it dies, will it start back up after it cools? Does it start easy when it starts? Could be bad coil, getting hot and shorting out.

Sounds like a good mower to me. 45 minutes is plenty!
