    Gunsmith

I need to have someone look at my son's 243. it's a break-over model and the firing pin is not working. I'm not much of a gun guy and needed to know if it is worth the repairs or if it just should be replaced. It's Rossi we picked up years ago for my wife and my boys have been shooting it. Looking for someone close to the NW area of Houston. The guy I used to use out in Katy seems to be out of business now.

    Thanks.

I'd start by doing some youtube searching and see what you can find about it. Be specific about the problem and gun. I'll bet that it's worth fixing and I'd also bet that you can DIY, as well. I'm just a shade tree DIY'er and even I've been surprised what gunsmithing I could do for myself, with the help of some good internet info.

Contact Rossi I would bet they are going to be your best bet for fixing it more than likely the firing pin broke off that is pretty common on single shot hammer guns especially if it has been dry fired a good bit if it is anything like an H&R or New England firearms gun you simply drift a pin out drop
out old firing pin slide new one in and replace the keeper pin

Probably dirt / trash around the firing pin.
Cock the hammer and blow some compressed air from the face side back towards the hammer.
If you don’t have a compressor you can buy some in a can for cleaning computers. If it is gunked up you can also put a few drops of lighter fluid on the firing pin to dissolve the gunk.
Be careful with the lighter fluid.
        Good Luck

I think that was the issue, worked it with some air and Rem-oil and it seems to be working properly, I guess I can't let my dad borrow stiff anymore.

          thx,
