    Late November Saskatchewan deer rifle

So I am booked for a 2025 Saskatchewan deer hunt late November. I have plenty of suitable rifles but for some reason I am wanting to take a 45/70. I have a few marlin lever guns and a Ruger #1 in 45/70. If I am lucky enough to get the stupid cold I am a little worried about the lever action freezing up. The #1 has fewer moving parts. Should I just ditch the 45/70 and grab one of my stainless synthetic stocked 7mag or 300 mag’s?

I killed my biggest deer in Iowa in December of 2021 and it was 13 degrees that morning and I was using a Win 94AE 444 Marlin and it definitely had frost on it but worked flawlessly. I know it gets colder than that farther up north but I wouldn't worry too much about that aspect. Good luck!

I had a bolt action rifle freeze up on me several years ago here in Missouri late doe season my truck said it was -13 with a stiff wind . The rifle was one I had just bought used and didn’t clean it before using it the bolt had some nasty grease in it.
