EoTech HWS 512 or Aimpoint Pro. Help me choose

I'm doing some trading with a guy on one of these optics and don't know what is the best one. Probably be on a gun, Sig Spear Lt 300BO, that just shoots paper or maybe pigs out of the buggy. Thanks in advance.

Aim point is probably considered more rugged but I like the 1 moa dot of the eotech. Be sure to confirm the eotech is real. There are more fakes on the market than real ones.

Of the two I’m taking the Eotech. I’ve got an Eotech 556 that I’ve had since 2010 and love it. I don’t love it with a magnifier though, reticle gets too fuzzy. I’ve ran it on my ARs and it currently resides on my bolt 300blk that I run dedicated to Subs suppressed under NVGs.

We use the Aimpoint pro on our M4s. They are not bad, but overall not my favorite.

          Yes.

I would pick the Aimpoint every day of the week. Better durability and MUCH better battery life. The PRO also has the advantage of people still wanting it. So if you ever decide to get rid of it in favor of something else you shouldn't have any problems selling. Not many people want the pre EXPS/XPS Eotechs.

Eotech has the advantage of a more common battery than the PRO.

Out of curiosity, I checked prices on Aimpoint red dots. WOW! I had no idea you could spend that much on a red dot scope. I could buy 10 of the Bushnell red dots for one Aimpoint! Are they that much better? More reliable? Accurate?

Yes, but if it's worth it or not depends. Aimpoints have a reputation for being almost bombproof and reliable. The NV capable models also blow away the cheap red dots out of the water when shooting under NV. The new ones also do a great job of having minimal parallax, although EOTECH is king there. If you don't want or need any of those qualities it's probably not worth it. You can find Aimpoint PROs and, my new the favorite, the Duty RDS under $400 pretty easily.

Just about all of the cheap red dots are going to be hit or miss on the reliability aspect. I've had 2 Sig Romeo 5s crap out on me, and it's not like I'm using them in a warzone. I still use them on .22's and other plinkers.
