Having to retire my favorite scatter gun

Been running a 1969 Belgium light twelve Browning I bought used from an individual in 2002. It has been my go to bird gun for years now. I was cleaning it this evening to get ready for dove season and the forestock has finally started cracking. Sad day. Time to retire it. Not going to find a forestock in time. Had to order a brand new Browning Hunter A5. Mercy my wallet is on fire. Will I be disappointed!

Look up arts gun shop, I can almost promise they have a forearm for your gun and can get it to you in a week.

Forend cracks are common on old a5's. I had 2 and kept shooting them

Usually pretty easy to repair an A5 forend crack if you catch it before it gets too bad and if not replacements are readily available. On the older long-recoil action shotguns (A5, Rem 11 & 11-48) it is rare to find one that doesn't have a crack.

Most of the time those cracks happen ,because the forearm nut wasn't tight.

This brings back great memories. The buttstock on mine shattered in the middle of a fantastic dove shoot in 2001. I literally duct taped it together and killed a pile of birds the rest of the weekend.

Yep, that's common. There are those friction rings that you can adjust for recoil.
