    DFW gunsmith for barrel chop?

Wanting to see if my stock vanguard barrel can be cut down to 16” or if I just need a new barrel. Any smith recommendations in DFW?

think the profile might be too thin to cut and thread, if so any recs on a smith to do a barrel swap? I’m sure APRs lead time might be longer than I need

Not DFW, but I recently had Bob Day https://americhoke.com do some barrel work (chokes) on a Browning A5. I only shipped the barrel, so you will have more hassle.

I got a guy in Cleburne, not sure if you consider that DFW. Mike Kirkendall, Buffalo Creek Armory, he's done a few chop and threads for me.

for what it's worth, i had my remington 243 threaded 5/8x24. i did not cut it down so it was too thin, so i had it threaded 1/2x28 and used a 5/8x24 steel adapter ... works like a champ .. Click image for larger version

yeah, i haven't used him in a while, he used to do really good, then I think he got really popular and may have gotten some extra help and i had one thread job that came out bad .. sharp thread as if cutter was dull ... not sure what he's up to lately .. when in doubt , cut your barrel 1" longer so if threads get done wrong , you have one do over ... my 2c.

do you happen to remember who it is? There used to be a sponsor tab and I don't see it with the new site

That would be me! We can get you fixed up. We’re located in Roscoe, but it’s no big deal to ship in your rifle/barreled action. It can definitely be threaded, but may or may not need an added shoulder depending on the barrel diameter. To cut to 16”, we will have to remove the barrel, so you’ll need to select the “disassembly/reassembly” option. Our lead time is 1-2 weeks currently. We also have a 10% TBH discount. Code: TBH10
