Well I bought me one the other day and right off the get go I got to kill a rattler on the new ranch, dang good thing there were not more than one, after the first shot with a 410 7 1/2 shot I could not even get it to fire the second round, kept messing with it and finally after several minutes I was able to finish rattler off with a couple more rounds, then I had to use a plier to get the spent rounds out of the cylinder, so is this the norm or am I using too cheap of ammo ? Not even sure what it is, the dealer sold it to me and said it was cheaper than the name brands.

I have two of them, a Public Defender polymer frame that shoots 2.5” shells and a stainless 3” magnum model.
i have never had an issue with either. That polymer pistol has been abused as well, it stays on my father’s Ranger so there some rust on it and the dust means it needs to be cleaned on a pretty regular basis.

By wouldn't fire do you mean the cylinder wouldn't turn? From what I understand the shell dislodged after you fired just enough that the brass kept the cylinder from rotating or am I misunderstanding what happened? Even if the hull stuck that shouldn't have kept the next round from being fired. If the cylinder rotated and you squeezed the trigger and got a "click" I'd say it's an ammo issue or a firing pin issue.
After you tried to shoot was there dents in the primers of the shells that didn't fire?Last edited by okrattler; 07-28-2024, 02:53 PM.

Had that happen to my dad's Judge soon after getting it and the primer on the spent-shell had backed out and an was binding up the cylinder. Somewhat common problem with revolvers if you are shooting "hot" ammo or reloading brass too many times.
I don't remember it ever happening again but that gun hasn't been shot much...maybe 50 times total in it's life. I know it does work well on big snakes with 2.75" six shot.
