    Taurus Judge ?

Well I bought me one the other day and right off the get go I got to kill a rattler on the new ranch, dang good thing there were not more than one, after the first shot with a 410 7 1/2 shot I could not even get it to fire the second round, kept messing with it and finally after several minutes I was able to finish rattler off with a couple more rounds, then I had to use a plier to get the spent rounds out of the cylinder, so is this the norm or am I using too cheap of ammo ? Not even sure what it is, the dealer sold it to me and said it was cheaper than the name brands.

They work great for boat anchors

I have two of them, a Public Defender polymer frame that shoots 2.5” shells and a stainless 3” magnum model.

i have never had an issue with either. That polymer pistol has been abused as well, it stays on my father’s Ranger so there some rust on it and the dust means it needs to be cleaned on a pretty regular basis.

I’ve never had an operational issue with either of the ones I have. Even shot quite a few hand thrown clays with ‘em. Never shot any 2 1/2” rounds in them though, just 3”.

Never heard any issues with them all these years they have been out.

I have one of the Rossi Brawlers now that works well
If you are looking for another alternative.

My polymer is a tank!!!! A very unaccurate tank! But goes bang every time and that’s with all ammo. I usually keep two rounds of hornady critical defense and three 7.5 shot shells in it. Wear it while clearing land and working at the ranch and has been abused but always shoots.

Just found this from 10+ years ago:

“I think the biggest problem is the rough hull of some .410 shells. I found Federal shotshells (ridged hull) to be difficult to extract, but Winchester (smooth hull) shells eject easily . . . “

I don't own one but I could see 410 brass expanding more in the cylinder than it would in a shotgun and causing it to stick.

As for not going bang, i got nothing other than try some 45 and see what it does

By wouldn't fire do you mean the cylinder wouldn't turn? From what I understand the shell dislodged after you fired just enough that the brass kept the cylinder from rotating or am I misunderstanding what happened? Even if the hull stuck that shouldn't have kept the next round from being fired. If the cylinder rotated and you squeezed the trigger and got a "click" I'd say it's an ammo issue or a firing pin issue.

After you tried to shoot was there dents in the primers of the shells that didn't fire?

It would not rotate, I think I will try some better ammo with the smooth hull, I think the ammo I used was about as cheap as you can get.

Yeah I would try a different kind and see what happens. If the ones you tried had a rougher texture to the hull you'd have thought if anything it'd stick and still allow the cylinder to move freely. That's kind of a weird deal. But heck who knows, guns are finicky about what they like to have shot through them at times.

I remember dealing with this at one point- could’ve swore the federals were sticky as to where the Winchesters allowed rotation and ejection.

If your shooting full length shells. Could have been when the crimp straightened out maybe it was to long? i know this is accounted for but maybe cheap shells it was protruding a little and hanging up? Just a WAG.

Had that happen to my dad's Judge soon after getting it and the primer on the spent-shell had backed out and an was binding up the cylinder. Somewhat common problem with revolvers if you are shooting "hot" ammo or reloading brass too many times.

I don't remember it ever happening again but that gun hasn't been shot much...maybe 50 times total in it's life. I know it does work well on big snakes with 2.75" six shot.
