Went to the range yesterday and was trying out some new AAC Blade ammo from my Bear Creek Arsenal. I shot both brass and steel with AAC being steel also with no problems. I have heard that this could be a problem with these but hoped I would be an exception. I sent BCA an email so I will tell you guys what all is told to me when I get a reply from them.

It still fired the PPU better but that AAC is $6-$8 cheaper. Might have to do some bartering for some PPU round nose soft points.
Sure doesn't seem like it should have broken. I'm almost positive your gun would have had the better firing pin in it the same as mine. Which is what they suggested getting I believe, even on their website. Dang it man. That makes me think I better get on there and order me an extra firing pin at least. Surely they'll make it right and send you whatever you need to get it back up and running. There's no way any part of that rifle should have worn out or broke no longer than you've had it. Heck even if you've shot the crap out of it, it still shouldn't have. We ain't even had them guns for a year.Last edited by okrattler; 06-16-2024, 12:47 AM.

They should replace my part or sell it pretty cheap.
I feel for ya, that's so frustrating. I bought me some brass and some PPU bullets but I ain't had a chance to load up very many. My grandpa has 'em at his house and he went off on vacation. I think what I'm gonna do is bang around at some prairie dogs with some steel cased ammo until he gets back home. If it's gonna break I want it to do it now instead of during huntin season.
One thing I noticed right after I got mine is I hadn't sprayed anything in the chamber to lube it up and it was leaving extractor marks on some of my brass. Deep ol' gouges in it. I just wonder if that was a sign of problems to come. I hope not but only time will tell.Last edited by okrattler; 06-16-2024, 06:12 AM.

The best thing to do is to replace the bolt and get a Black Rifle Arms extractor. Their extractors don’t fit the BCA bolts (according to their website). Their extractors are phosphated instead of melonite/nitride. Phosphate finish is much harder which is why they don’t even sell melonite/nitride finished extractors. My BCA is several years old now. The extractor (they weren’t the “upgraded” version then) broke within 50 rounds. I replaced the bolt to accommodate the Black Rifle extractor and never looked back. I would also advise buying a couple of extra extractors just to be safe.

Only one issue with my BCA 7.62. After a couple hundred rounds, it broke the tip of the firing pin. It was an enhanced pin, but I went ahead and ordered 10 of stock and 10 enhanced just to have that issue covered for next time. It’s my little boy’s rig and it’s served well for the little guy.

Funny...Just this past Friday I went to the range for the first time with my Bear Creek 762x39 upper on a Aero lower and it shot incredibly well with steel case Wolf and steel case Sabre black tip from Palmetto, both were 123gr. A little over 1" groups at 100 yds. The very first round I chambered slam fired on me and did not eject completely. I pulled the BCG and oiled it up good and reinstalled. It functioned flawlessly after that.
