    410 slug or buckshot

I recently acquired a 410 lever action and I was looking to use it for hogs and coyotes

has anyone tried slugs or buckshot (000 buck) and what do you prefer
the lever only takes 2 1/2” shells

The only slugs would be Brenneke but the shells are odd sizes and didn’t work well for me in leveractions. The 000 is in a column and your best answer. In a 410 capable of 3”, its as deadly as a 12 gauge if using Brenneke slugs and 000 buck.

The off the shelf slugs are literally like shooting a sewing thimble.

Buckshot for a 12 gauge spreads an inch per yard. I would imagine you would have even less pellets in a 410. 410 slug is a blistering closer range round.

In my T/C 45/410 pistol 10", I only use the slugs now. Tried the 410 Buck on a wounded hog by another hunter. It was terrible. Poor hog had been shot with two arrows, a 357 mag, two loads of 410 buck. And finished off with another 357 slug to the noggin. Hog was full of holes when skint out. It was a well perforated pig.

410 slugs will kill a deer. That's was my primary choice when I lived in Ohio. Just place the shot well.

My .410 is surprisingly accurate with Winchester hollowpoint slugs. I'd try to see if you can hit a pie plate from at least 35 yards with 000 buck. There's not enough pellets in those for my liking. If I was going after a hog or coyote with a .410 I'd definitely use a slug.
