    Ruger AR Zero

I thought I was having a problem with my Ruger and thermal losing zero. Went to the range last week and zeroed at 50 yds, and went back today and shot 5 more at the same target from the same bench, same ammo. No appreciable shift considering how tough it is to shoot an AR off a benchrest and rear bag with the pistol grip. holes with horizontal lines are last week, vertical lines today's shots.

Moved the target to 100 yds and adjusted zero vertically as I thought it would be too high. Found out the "clicks" on the scope zero feature are 1/2" at 100, thus the low group. Next group was the high one, but finally got it zeroed. The Hornady 3-shot group measured 3/8" and the PMC group below it 1.2" -- better groups than I expected. Will be back in the pasture next week a night or two--report to follow.

No familiar with thermals. Isn’t there a way to sight in with one shot on some? Not saying I wouldn’t shoot more to test it

There is an option for one shot zero but I've not had much success using it.

Put an optical scope on in and verify that the ammo you’re shooting is grouping to your desired moa.
There is no sense Trying to zero your thermal if you’re shooting ammo that is all over the place.

mkk—wasn’t an ammo problem—my confusion on zeroing was why things were all over the place. Once I had it figured out, the last 6 shots were the two circled groups. Headed back out Wednesday night for another sit and then back to the range for another verify if needed.

No can close/delete this one-even following the instructions from Around the Campfire post.
