I got into hunting with ” hand guns,” when I was a kid. I wanted a really nice air gun pellet ( not bb) pistol. And I got to where I could drop sparrows and mice from a pretty good distance, even head shots. Then I got . 22, then 44 mag, then 454 casull, then 7mmBR. Plus many others, but these are what I would call hunting handguns. I now pretty much only bow hunt, but still like to shoot about any thing, pistols, rifles, black powder, air rifles and pistol. It’s all good practice and enjoy it. The largest animal to date is a cow elk with a 454 casull, in a 15” barrel encore.

I carried a 1911 longslide in 45 for the most part. worked well for shots under 50 yards.

That is not my picture but a quick internet search should turn something up for you.

I use the Short Action Customs two round holders you can find on their website.

My 10mm Glock 40(6"bbl) comes with me to the pig stand when/if I get an opp to ventilate one.

I have 2 1911 Dan Wesson 10mm {Silverback/Valor} that I use with old school sites. I have shot deer and hogs with them.

Super Blackhawk Hunter with a 2-6x scope. Hitting a golf ball at 50yds was always my goal. Agree with the comment that a good 44 or 45lc bullet moving at 1100 is plenty. I’ve put a 250gr Keith bullet at that velocity through a deer lengthwise.

You needn't use too much cartridge to effectively deliver a knockdown to whitetail

A my first was with a 41 Mag from a TC Contender Suoer 14 back in the mid 1980s. Last was a 8pt at 101 yards through the neck with a Contender Super 14 in 35Rem back in 2002.
