I don’t know about other folks but accuracy is my number one priority in a rifle, so finding a gun that consistently shoots under 1 inch and many times closer to a half inch is what I am looking for and in the 600 dollar price range not many can as consistently as the American shoot that well. I feel with a little work the triggers are actually pretty decent
You and I think alike. I’ve got a Bergara Ridge 300wm that was giving me FITS trying to find a factory load it would shoot under 1” at 100yds. Bergara was no help, “we don’t guarantee it to shoot MOA with hunting ammo”. After 7 different factory loads from Remington core lokt which I didn’t expect the best from, to Berger and Federal Premium offerings, I finally started handloading for it and got it figured out. Way too much effort when so many other factory rifles will shoot under an inch with off the shelf ammo.
For example… my Predator 308. Only shot Federal Fusion 150s and Hornady Whitetail 165s out of it, but it shot under 1” with both. Now days If the nut behind the butt(me) will do his job, it will shoot a 1/2” 3 shot group with my handloads at 100yds. All I’ve done to it is a little trigger polishing like I mentioned in an earlier post. Didn’t cost me much, about 15 minutes and a ball point pen spring from the junk drawer.
I have one. trigger is eh, and action is far from smooth, but it does shoot well. I would save a couple hundred more and look for a used CZ
Brother in law is in the market for a 6.5prc while he awaits his suppressor. He is/was looking at the CZ 600 alpha. Apparently the main complaint with them is ejection issues. It was either WhoTeeWho or Backfire that did a video recently and he was having ejection issues as well.
If they get that sorted, they seem like fantastic rifles in that cheaper price point.
Sorry, Tommy. I was refering to the original ruger ranch in 6.5g, which I assumed you were as well
10-4 I did not specify which gun in my post. That's my fault. I'm hoping the gen 2 feels a lot better in hand. If it does, I'll buy one in 6.5 grendel.
That 350 Legend is appealing. I'd like to see the price tag a little lower though. Is that the recommended sale price or is someone seeing that price at a retail outlet?
Edit: I found them online for $599 at Sportsman's, but it's not the ranch edition.
Depends if you want an inexpensive, accurate hunting rifle or a beauty you hate to scratch as a daily carry rifle.
We just spent a few days bumping around some real rough country pig hunting and calling coyotes. No way I would use a really expensive rifle in that red dirt, jeep hunt.
My Ruger 6.5 killed a coyote at 350+ yards.
I wasn’t behind it but watched it happen.
The money I saved on a Ruger was spent on a suppressor and great scope.
And all my Ruger rifles, pistols and my Red Label have never failed me. Over 40 yrs of rough use. So I am a Ruger fan and would buy a Gen II if I could justify another rifle at my age.
