    Rem 78

I was given a Rem 78 in 30’06. Old, but decent condition

    i don’t need another caliber. We have .243, .270’s and 6.5 CMs

Is there much demand for these 78 actions/ guns?

thanks for any comments or advice.

Did my own research. Actions seem to be same as 700 ADL

Thought about a project. But I decided I would rather save the money for another suppressor for the guns I have.

I believe the Remington 78 was introduced in 1983-1984 after Remington discontinued the Model 788, which had been their budget centerfire rifle since the 1960s. As you noted, the Remington 78 was based upon the Moel 700 ADL, but the bluing did not appear to be as polished as the Model 700, and the wood was smooth birch instead of checkered walnut. It was designed to be Remington's budget rifle meant to replace the void left after the 788 was discontinued. It was discontinued after a few years. I think I would rather have a Model 78 than an ADL/BDL that was manufactured in the few years preceding Remington's bankruptcy, as their QC problems increased prior to said bankruptcy.
