    Youth shooting an adult rifle?

My son who is 13 currently has a youth Savage Axis .243 and has taken plenty of whitetail with that. However, Im on a search for a larger caliber rifle for bigger game such as nilgai, exotics, etc. He got selected on a nilgai hunt and was wondering if he could use one of my adult sized rifles. It appears the only thing that is different with youth to adult is how compact it is and the overall length of pull (generalizing here). He's shot my rifles in the past without any real issues and he is continuing to grow into his teens so I believe hes in the transition period to move to a full sized rifle.

Have any of your kids used an adult rifle with any issues? Thoughts?

I started hunting at 9 and never used a "youth" sized rifle. Don't remember having any trouble at all.

If he can handle your rifles safely and comfortably then let him go.

He's ready to move up if he can shoot yours. I never even started on a youth gun. Probably wasn't even a thing back then.
