    Reloading fun

Cooler weather temps got me motivated so I went out yesterday morning to my shop and rolled a few. I had some old w231 powder that had $22.95 price tag still on the bottle so off we went. cranked the handle a few times and spit out these. Still have about 500 more to go. These will last me a couple of trips to the range and then we start over again. I can get at least 20 reloads from this Starline brass at standard power levels. 5.9 grs of W231 on 185gr pills, 5.4 grs of W231 on 230gr ball. Some are Berry;s hybrid HP, Zero Bullets 185 HP and Zero 230 gr ball. Winchester LRP. OAL on ball is 1.25" and 1.22" OAL on the HP. I also use a Lee factory crimp on all .45 ACP. The Lee FCD works extremely well in my old Hornady AP press. Click image for larger version

Are you shooting those through a semi or revolver ? Either way, looks like too much fun……when it gets cooler !

Nothing better to relieve the stress of life than sitting at a reloading bench, and the money saved from your old stock pile of components.

They will all be run thru 1911's. I have 2 Rock Islands that still need some breaking in. Their accuracy gets better the more you shoot them.

I can get 1200 rounds from a pound of powder and premium bullets bought in bulk are .16 each, primers that I have cost me $16 a brick back then so I am at or near .34 cents per round since I can reuse the cases many many times. About the same price as store bought Armscor ammo but accuracy is better I think due to consistency of velocity. I still have about 12 or 13 bricks of primers I bought at a gun show about 25 years ago for near nothing compared to prices today..

This old girl has been good to me. Back when I bought it they were barely over $200 for the complete press with one shell plate holder. No telling how many 10's of thousands of rounds been cranked out of it and the only thing ever replaced is the round shell holder base spring. When I get rolling good I can punch out 150-200 rounds and hour. Not as fast as a $2 Click image for larger version

Sure wish powder was still the same price as 20+ years ago when I got this. Last can of the old good pre Hodgdon stuff. Formula is somewhat different now I have heard. I have other powders that only cost $15.95 a jug. Click image for larger version Name:	20230703_110744.jpg Views:	0 Size:	198.1 KB ID:	26524881
