    Getting Class 3 from individual?

As title says. I’ve only bought from a dealer and they walked paperwork through. What is the easiest way- I called an attorney and he wanted $400 plus another $300 for the trust. And I would still need the tax stamp. Can I just print something out and do it myself? Or are there any dealers on here I could pay for them to help me along?

    Glen,
the process is the same as buying from a dealer. A Form 4 has to be filled out along with the buyer providing fingerprints and passport photos.

if registered to an individual that is the only set of prints/photos needed. If you have a trust, all responsible persons will have to submit along with a Form 5320 (I think) which is a responsible persons questionnaire.

The buyer cannot take possession of the item until the approved stamp comes back.

So Mike I just fill out a form 4 and the owner doesn’t have to fill out anything?

It’s been a while since I’ve done an private transfer so I can’t recall if the transferor (seller) has to sign anything or not but you will definitely need the EXACT info from him that the suppressor is currently registered under. It would be helpful if he would share his approved Form 4 so you can get his infor correct as well as the suppressor info as it is currently registered.

I have that so I’ll fill it out and carry to a dealer and offer for them to check it over for a fee.

I went through this several years ago. Seller was reluctant to give me all necessary info for the form 4. I finally persuaded him to take a pic of his stamp and text it to me. I was then able to fill out the form 4 for submission.
            no signature required from seller.

This is great info. I have a 5.56 suppressor that I don’t use and I’ve thought about selling it. I don’t want to get tangled up with the BATFE so it just sits in the gun safe.
