    Just can't live without 'ems

After you've bought your saddle, kneed pads, platform etc...( things you have to have) what are some of the little things or techniques you've discovered that make your saddle experience more enjoyable? Here are a few of mine, not in any particular order:
    1. Suspenders- make a saddle so much more comfortable and easier to walk to your tree while wearing em.
2.Backpack with ample room. Carry everything and able to get rid of my side pouches leaving more room on my saddle to attach easy to reach stuff I need (steps, platform, bow reel)
    3. "Xtra hand"- paracord with a loop tied in the end with a prusik knot on the cord. Getting up the tree it always seems like I run into a situation where I need to quickly hang something or get to it. This little rig is quick, simple, inexpensive and works great. Keeps me from hauling out my HYS strap and if I ever drop my HYS strap( yes, its happened) I still have a way to set up my bow, quiver, backpack.

    Ok, lets hear yours.....

    1. some rubber tie-gear deals on steps and platform
    2. a small saw
    3. a rick young bino harness, just keeps everything tidy

Other than that just the essentials.

I like the idea of the "Xtra Hand"! I've used my lineman's (or is it linesman? ) belt to girth hitch to a tree and hang my pack from the Ropeman (easy to adjust) but I can see where the lightweight paracord would come in handy.

2 Ropeman1 ascenders. One on my tether, one on my linesman. Keeps my blood pressure down not having to deal with prusik knots.
            HYS strap. Absolute money piece.
Good knee pads. I bought the trophyline ones. Lightweight, secure, comfortable.
Back brace. Another absolute money piece.
Amsteel daisy chains on my steps. So much faster than having to deal with actual straps.

and im learning the value in a good platform. Ive made due with the one ive used for the past 2 years, but will changing it soon.

Yea those ropemans were a game changer for sure! Rope mods on sticks is probably a close second. I still prefer the buckle on my platform and only the platform and STEALTH STRIPS! If you ain’t using stealth strips… you’re doing it wrong! Lol

Oh! Outdoors edge “flip n zip” saw! It’s an aluminum skeleton formed saw. Very small and weightless. I have mine zip tied between my saddle and dump pouch. Don’t even know it’s on me. I haven’t carried a traditional folding saw in 4-5 years now. Just order one, I guarantee it will be your favorite

Flip n zip and small pruning shears are real handy, also using the Rick Young bino harness light and does not block the wind on those warm October hunts.

I carry a folding saw (I'm going to order the smaller F&Z that y'all recommended) and have been wondering if it makes sense to carry a saw and pruners. Do you use a ratcheting pruner or just regular hand pruner?

I carry a 5' Hooyman saw with me(fits perfect in the side pocket of my Timberline backpack. It has a little weight to it ( bout 1.5 pounds) so the added weight is worth it to me.

Stealth strips are fantastic. However the XOP knock offs are NOT. They don’t stick worth a crap.

I’m a sound nazi. Every bow I have, the riser is covered with stealth strips because I tapped my release on a bow once and it cost me a giant. I should prolly buy stock in stealth strips 😆

                            1.Bahco folding saw

                            2. Small set of pruners

                            3. DYI lineman's rope with Ropeman 1 ascender and Trango carabiners

                            4. Screw in bow/pack hangers

                            5. Paracord loops on my saddle to attach sticks.

                            6. A gear tie on the offset bracket of the platform. Wrap the gear tie around your lineman's rope when you are at hunting height and ready to set your platform. This allows you have both hands to set your platform.

I started using this rope to attach my sticks. They also have the same set up for linesman belt ant tether. It is a prusik knot or swabbish hitch with a tender. Easy to operate and no metal.
