Another award winnig recipe
Nut Brittle
1. 2 cups white corn syrup
2. 2 cups sugar
3. ¼ stick no salt butter
4. 2 cups nuts
(can use pecans, peanuts, etc)
5. 1-2 tablespoons vanilla
6. 1 heaping tablespoon baking soda
Mix the first 3 ingredients in 4-5 quart saucepan and heat until it reaches 290 degrees stirring the entire time. Add nuts and re-heating stirring the entire time until it reachs 300 degrees. Remove from heat stir in vanilla and then the baking soda. Candy will foam up when you stir in the soda. Pour onto 2 large no stick cookie sheets and spread as thin as possible. Cool in refrigerator
I make a variety or this and call it sweet and spicy. With peanuts I add 1/4 spoon of cayane pepper. It is amazing the watch someone eat it and after about 60 second to ask what the second flavor was?
