A local guide always called them flying rib eyes. I always thought he was a liar! Guess I will have to try one. I have tried goose cooked many different ways and it never tasted good no matter how I cooked it.

Who did you hunt with? I'm interested in setting up a trip.

Always wanted to hunt them. I would be interested in who you used as a guide also.

I think this post is going to lead to a lot of Sandhill Crange deaths.

Good job! It does make me want to hunt them even more now.

We just BBQ the thighs like a chicken leg quarter That's my favorite part. Also slice breast fillet 1/2 thin, season, and roll up with bell peppers and onions and bacon wrap and cook as a crane log on the grill or smoker. When done slice in 1/2" to 1" discs and serve! Crane is alot better than duck or goose but its no ribeye. Man they're fun to shoot! Like shooting down a little airplane. Love watching em crash land!!!

Looks good. Haven't got one yet this year, but planning to fix that soon.

One of the best game meats in the world! I have eaten a ton of game, but Sandhill is up there if not the top. I grew up on farm/ranch and had great fresh beef my whole life. I would say that Sandhill almost matches that. I had some the other day. Out to kill more in a few weeks (I hope).
