put a little oil in cast iron pan and get the pan hot it helps fry the bottom

I use the mix and iron pan. I coat the pan with a little butter.

Pone Cornbread
2 cups self rising flower
2 cups self rising corn meal
3 tbsp kosher sea salt
4 tbsp sugar
Add buttermilk and mix to constancy of cake batter.
Add chopped jalapeno and grated cheese if you like.
12" cast iron skillet with 6 tbsp bacon grease
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and place skillet with bacon grease in till starting to smoke.
Pour in batter. It will start frying instantly.
Cook at 400 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour.
Flip on a wooden cutting board and let rest for 15 minutes.
Enjoy!

We use the jiffy box and add chopped jalapeños , frozen corn and cheese. It's great.

oh man...that do sound good...will give it a shot. I need to add more sugar. Doesn't seem sweet enough. thanks!
