Alright... So I've been cooking venison and other game dang near all my life. The other night at work I had some venison cube steak and my partner kept asking me if I was gonna soak them in buttermilk before cooking it up, it takes away the *game* taste as he described. He has never cooked venison and hardly ate any but someone told him to do that... I have never in my life heard of such a thing. We've always just washed, prepped, then cooked. Mine has always come out great... And usually all gone!
