Man it sux being some where your not used to.
Im in Indiana for a while working and the food is not that great. Bought some pintos the other night and they do not have any premixed seasoning for beans. We have many brands at my home store but not up here. Oh and eckrich brand sausage is all the have at a store called meijer. Kinda like a walmart but better. I think the same people go ther though.

When I make beans I like to add bacon. You know, you can't go wrong with adding bacon to anything. I'll cut it up and cook it in a frypan, adding chopped onion, a can or two of Ro-Tel (or something similar), and some minced garlic. I then dump this into the pot of cooking beans. For seasonings I'll add season salt, cumin, and anything else I think might add to the flavor. If you were to look at a premixed seasoning for beans, I bet it would have cumin. It really adds a lot to their flavor. Every bean cook has their own special recipe, most of which would be great, I'm sure. You could Google bean recipes and come up with thousands, no doubt. Good luck with it. Teach those northerners a thing or two about how to do beans right.
