    DB Hunting Ranch

Has anybody been to this Ranch lately? I am thinking about taking my dad on a hunt there for either an exotic or a ram. Was wondering how big the place was acres wise and if it was high fenced?

Just got back from there last week. You can read my story under titled closest hog/javi hunt near Austin or under the bowhunting report.

The place is about 300 acres High fenced. I took a black buck (not recovered until a few days but recovered). They have lots of hog, auodad saw one axis with horns (you can see the picture via the link posted on my reports) lots of ram.

If I lived closer, I would be there monthly for a hog hunt and at least once a year for other exotics.

Dany and Jake are awesome and I truly enjoyed my hunt.

They have a shack if you want to stay there. I have seen bigger sheds in back of homes then the shack but you could sleep there overnight. I would qualify the lodging a -1 star. It is not a tent but the miad does not come often.

I'm going there for a one day hog hunt on May 2nd. Will hunt Saturday evening, sleep there, then hunt Sunday morning followed by a little spot and stalk until its time to leave at noon.

First night in the stand, only one of about 100lbs and 5 piglets. Second evening while looking for my black buck I saw a dozen or so includind a large one of about 250lbs. The first night I was there, two hunters shot nice 100lbs each.

Thanks, do you know what they consider a "trophy hog"?

DB sounds like a good place. What is their website. I hunted a place that was great near Austin several months ago that was covered in hogs. Lots of hogs in the hill country. More than i have seen any where else.

Have a question not knocking the place it said something about tagged hogs on the specails link. Do they have boars I guess that they turn loose on there high fence place to hunt. Doesn't really matter to me a hog is a hog but is that how they keep there population going. Sorry for stilling your thread just had a question. Thanks

They capture the hog outside and import them in. I am sure that they have some home grown hogs since I saw five piglets that were no bigger then a cat

Ok that was what I was thinking. Same as everyone bringing in exotics and turning them loose.
