I've hunted with Butch and his son Ryan several times. Ryan will work his butt off for you, and he litterally loves to hunt geese. I've hunted with lots of other guide services through the yrs. and these guy's are my favorites. 6 of us made a conservation season "caller" hunt with Ryan about 4 yrs. ago I think, and we killed 105 geese. That was the best day he had ever had at that time; he may have beat that by now. I'm thinking about putting a party together and making a trip right after christmas my self. good luck to ya, and post up a message and let us know how you do.

Do you have a web site for him or a phone number, I would like to do that, we went to Eagle lake last year and were not very successful. Is he out of Winnie or where?

http://www.texashunting.net/ Heres his website and he is out of katy. Been in business 38 yrs, He knew alot of the guys I used to guide with over here on the east side so he is up on his game. Seems like a personable guy and was enjoyable to talk with. His number is 281-391-4381. I will send some pics and a review after our hunt.

I just heard about Butch's the other day. Not pleasant things either. This was from a Katy resident that used to hunt with those guys...

Try www.thedrakeplantation.com or www.brokenloutdoors.com both are great outfits with great guides and the decoys are already out and you don't lay in the mud!!!!!!!

Butch and Ryan do a great job. It all depends on the weather as to how you will do....but they will put you in a field of goose poop for sure. If they don't have birds they will call you and tell you.

You will hear something bad about EVERY outfitter eventually. I have probably heard more good than bad about Butch's though, but I have never hunted with them so I don't personally know. The only thing an outfitter can provide is opportunity and a solid professional effort. They can not control the weather or birds. Now if we can high fence geese that would be a different story....

If anyone else wants another option PM me.

My dad and I hunted with Butch's about 5 years ago and had a good time. We had never goose hunted before. It was a lot of work putting out and picking up rags. There were tons of birds in the area but calm winds and blue skies kept the rags still and the geese high. We still managed over 3 birds per man plus a couple of ducks. With better weather (overcast/fog with some wind, it would have been a slaughter.

I've hunted with him several times. Top notch & he hasn't been doing for almost 40 years without doing something right. We had a bad hunt once & I was offered a return hunt at no extra charge even though conditions were beyond their control. Not sure if that is always offered but I know it was at least once.
