One of these days I'm going to try and get a back pasture, but for now I really enjoy hunting up front.

We were in 6 and moved to 5. I stuck that 160" 10pt in 6 and hit him a little high...missed those shoulders....found blood, but not a lot...saw him two more times...so he's still around. Nancy said somebody else saw him too. That's good, because I was sick over it. It was my fault...I peeked!! He is a Hoss!!!

Pasture #7 , when I was there, was basically hunting from the parking lot by the cabins. It sucked.

Why did you move from 6 to 5?

We were on two 3 day hunts and we had the option. Because I had wounded that deer in 5, it was either move and get another buck or stay and hunt the one I shot in 6. It was a unique situation where we had paid for a three day and another 3 day became available. Rare.

Just got back. Had a great hunt. Saw three shooters while scouting, but no shot opportunities this time. My father passed up a wide 8 with short tines on the second hunt, and now wishes he hadn't. I've hunted 7 in the past and missed a 20-22in. wide 8 point right next to camp. My dad missed a big 10 pt. that year, I think the shoot through screens we put up were to blame, we just did not get them tight enough.

The ponds are dry and the only water is in the concrete tanks.

I did see some other great bucks, but those are for later in Jan. Deer movement was slow...but not because of Mike or the does. Come on Jan.

What pasture did you hunt. Is the big tank between 5 and 6 dry?

It was a couple weeks ago when I was there, I hunted pasture 6. I'll be back down there Jan 1-4
