yes, I have Hunted there twice. I picked a bad time for the first trip. It was full moon and deer went nocturnal. I have seen really big deer shot at the ranch. The people are very nice too.
I hunted there in Oct 2014 in the Kreager pasture. A buddy and I had vaca time on the books and nothing to do so we went on a whim. Mother nature killed us. The weather warmed back up from a 2 day cool front, so we were hunting in **** near 90 degree weather.
We saw lots of does and spikes and jumped a solid buck while we were out setting up stands but never saw him again.
We did not have much luck, but were prepared for that since the trip was so last minute. We invited the ranch owner, Pete, to supper and he came to our camp house on our last night there. We ate and drank some cold beer and shot the proverbial youknowhat. Super nice guy. I did get to see a Jaguarundi while crawling through the brush to get to my stand one morning. I think we equally scared the crap out of each other. That was pretty awesome.
I just got back a few days ago from a scouting trip there. We planned a 3 day hunt and have a group of 8 going this year. During the off season, they'll let you go and scout the ranch, which is incredibly helpful since you'll be pressed for time when you're there to hunt.
We'll be hunting the same pasture this November and am hoping the weather cooperates. I can tell you they have been blessed with much rain since our hunt in October. Everything is super green, all the tanks are full.
I HIGHLY recommend you trailer a jeep or something similar up there for scouting and setting up. Thermacell, Thermacell, Thermacell. The skeeters and gnats were miserable. Hopefully cooler weather will keep them at bay.
Will post pics and update after our hunt this year.
Hunted there one time about 3 years ago and had a great experience. Didn't kill anything, but I did see a 120ish 8 point that just didn't quite come in range. I want to go back, and will go back, one day. Nick is the guide and he is on here and he is very nice and helpful. I will say this, don't go there expecting a guaranteed kill, because that is not the case. But I had plenty chances to kill a spike, just didn't. Heard pigs, but never saw them.
I went and I really enjoyed it. Seen a lot of deer and about 10 different bucks in 4 days. Missed my opportunity on a nice 8. I paid big money for a lease this yr so I doubt I make a trip this hunting season.
