Marty "Buff" Thomas' Big Oak Bowhunting ranch offers some of the best bowhunting opportunities in the State of Texas. I won this exotic doe and hog hunt - which Marty so graciously donated - at the Lone Star Bowhunters Association banquet.
This was my third trip and I will surely go back!
The hunters cabin is exceptional and beautifully furnished...with all of the comforts of home and then some!
The stands are top quality. You will be spoiled by the spacious, carpeted and insulated bow box blinds.
I saw animals and had shot opportunities every sit. This place is like Disneyland for bowhunters. If you just want to whack something, you will have no trouble getting it done early, however, if hunting for a specific animal you might be surprised how challenging they can be to locate in the hardwoods and rolling terrain. The axis are especially weary and fairly unpredictable.
On the second day of my hunt I took a hog and was able to seal the deal on an axis doe.
Marty and his guides are extremely helpful and will assist you in getting your animal out of woods and in the cooler.
I always have a blast at Big Oak. At this point, it is really one of my favorite places in Texas. I really can't thank Marty and his family enough for a wonderful experience.
