    Day lease Axis Buck?

Looking to find an Axis buck day lease rifle hunt around San Antonio. Not looking for a trophy but mainly a nice management buck to put on the wall. Not sure what these rates are. Thanks in advance!

Depends on the buck and where you are. Some are still hard horned. Seen some still antlered at this time.

I heard they shed early. Just what I've heard.

I've seen some shed running with antlered ones. In fact the axis skin I have is a buck that had just shed.

Most of the trophy places say between May-Sept the large % of bucks are hard horned.

Axis do not breed all at the same time like whitetail. Which means they are born at all different times of year. This means there will be hard-horned, in-velvet and bucks who recently shed, all at the same time. I have all 3 at my place right now. The majority seem to breed in July-August in Kendall County.

Each buck has it's own "cycle"

Never hunted there but there is a place in Comfort called the CircleNA ranch. they are posting on the Texas hunting forum and have some reasonable Prices.

The high game ranch holding pens are across the road for my lease and the smaller axis still have antlers but the bigger bodyed axis are starting to grow a new set.
