    Diamond C

Well I am finally getting around writing about my trip to the "C". Where to start? I arrive in camp and meet Seth and Michael both of whom are TBHers and immediately feel at home. Skylar comes in and goes over everything with us ask what we are all after. I was doing the ram/doe hunt and really wanted a doe because I needed the meat. That night I get put in a double bull and have whitetail, aoudad, fallow buck, and pigs come in. I saw critters from the time I got dropped off until I was picked up. The next morning I elected to sleep in because well I wanted to LOL. After everyone gets back to camp Skylar offers to take me out to try and get my doe. I jump in the Kubota and off we go. We corn a road to see if the black bucks will come out and play and sure enough they do. We still don't know what happened but at the last second my arrow took a dive and I missed! My confidence is shaken but I guess not too bad. After awhile an axis doe runs across in front of us and stops broadside. I jump out and jerk the string back and hear Skylar say 48 yards. I settle in and release feeling good about the shot. I saw her kick but didn't hear the thwack and was turning to say something when Skylar says man that had to be a heart shot there was blood everywhere!

We wait about five minutes and off we go following a blood trail that Ray Charles could see. Short tracking job later <100 yds not really sure on the distance I have my axis. We get some pics and yes I did the C backwards LOL and drag her off to get cleaned up. I can say I will be back and really enjoyed it down there. The lodge is amazing the hunting is awesome and Skylar is good people. I had such a great time that on the way home when I blew the engine in my pickup it still couldn't get me down. Thanks again Skylar
