How does this ranch hunt In Late December? Is that rut time in this area?

I've never hunted that time of year but I hear it's great. I'm planning to next year!!

I've really only hunted in December and have hunted this ranch for many years.....it's really good if there's still some cover......without that cover it's tough and not to mention, you've had two months of hunters coming and going through the ranch. The deer tend to be a bit more skiddish and anxious, more than they are early. I go late in the year, mostly because I don't like rattle snakes and there are some big ole rattle snakes on that place......I'd rather wait!!

It's a great place to hunt and I recommend it!!!

Do you think a 6 foot tripod could work as well or just stick with the pop up?
I own 2 aluminum lightweight tripods and I am trying to decide if I should even bring them.
