I had good luck at DB ranch every time I hunted there. Hunted hogs a couple of times with good success and killed the Oryx bull in my avatar there. Never stayed in the cabin due to my house being close enough I didn't have to. Cleaning area was pretty nasty every time I was there, but apparently some changes have been made. You should give them a try and form your own opinion.

I too have gone there and had a great hunt. I killed a nice oryx that is now on my wall. You get what you pay for. So for me, it was a great price and situation. He does have animals, so it depends on what you are looking for.

I am glad that he clean up the place a little. I'll be going back sometime.

The number one complaint was about the cleaning station. Danny has corrected that issue. The stands are comfortable. Game abounds. The flea thing? Well, Danny traps animals all over the place and has no control over that. It does not make sense to sell hunts as cheap as he does only to have to turn around and spend that money on de-lousing animals. I have killed a few pigs there and have never dealt with the flea thing. Sounds to me that the guy who dealt with the fleas also killed a couple of animals, so he got what he paid for. The ranch is close, game is plentiful, shot opportunities are there, and the price is right. I have never met anyone that did not see anything. The pigs hit the feeders in the evenings. Good luck. Let me know and I will go with you.
Just for the Record i was'nt dogging Db Ranch on this thread.I did an Honest Opinion of the Place from my perspective which did include Positive and Negative feedback.I also recommended they try it and form there own opinion. If Danny has worked on the place a little thats great and i will wait and see what the report is from hunts from now on.I have considered bringing my brother there just for the the fact that he does have a ton of pigs and we dont get to hunt with each other very often.
It is true that it is a fair deal for he HUNT but as far as the accomidations and facilities....well....I have paid the same and gotten much much better. The Qautro b in Hondo has five star hunting loge and cabin and you pay the same price per day and can hunt unlimited hogs. You may not get them but thats a different story for a different thread.
All in All it wasnt a horrible experience just a lack of maintenance and accountability of the owner for not holding the hunters responsible for their mess.If thats changed i may look into another trip sometime in the future.

I got my first hog there. It was a BBQ Pint Size but it's still a hog for me. I've hunted three times so far this year. Second time I went, I saw nothing, Danny told me to come back other time, I did, and shot two hogs. One in the blind and one on the way back to the cleaning station, spotted two hogs by water tank, Guide said I could have at it. I shot one more, both was less than 20 minutes. I was the only hunter during the evening hunt.

It was good deal but I have to agree with the cleaning station issue. It was nasty. They didn't clean up from previous kills from other group of hunters and it just sat there and reeks. That was back in Jan, March and April. They don't wash the blood off of the bed of truck. Pool of bloods all over the truck's bed and the Guide asked me to ride in the back of truck on the way and the smell was so bad. They should clean the truck's bed before and after for every group of hunter, IMO.

I did contract the fleas from one of the hogs that I brought inside the house, had it so bad on myself at the house that I ended up having to call pesticide company to spray inside the house and everything. Since I have my own property and won't be going back for anything else.

It was good experience for a first time day hunts for myself. Danny was accommodating, took time to introduce himself and talk for a little bit but yes, very busy man. Guides were nice guys, one was Danny's BIL and other guy from Leander area that worked for Danny for a long time. Both didn't have any problem communicating with me and took time out of everything to talk slow for me so I could read lips and understand what they were saying.

Good luck if you ever decided to go there. Form your own opinion. Every place has pros and cons.

I have never tried the Quatro B ranch, but it is in Hondo. Bertram is way closer. Danny cleaned up the Cleaning station and the place has a better feel to it. Give it another shot. I challenge anyone to find a place as cost effective as the DB with as much opportunity to make a kill.

Glad you got some thing. I have been out there several time. I've taken three hogs and a red hind off of DB's place.

For our last outing... We took a party of hunters out there for a bachelor party back in July. Only one of us saw any thing. A bunch of goats. Danny did a "walk and stalk" with the groom just so he could get his first animal ever. Danny says we can rebook but every time we try he says he's busy. That's the deal... For $100 I've decided to chalk it up to experience.

My son and I went. I saw hogs in the evening. He saw none the whole day. I shot one hog. Word of advice. Take a good light to track with and look as soon as you shoot. Lot's of other exotics there too. Blinds are decent.
